We’ve gained a top Safety Accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor

Health and safety is something we take very seriously at Midlands Asbestos Solutions. It is paramount that all of our projects are carried out in a safe, responsible manner. We are always looking to improve our ways of working to offer our customers the safest possible asbestos removal service. So we were delighted to have recently gained a top safety accreditation from Alcumus Safe Contractor – which was awarded for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.

Alcumus Safe Contractor is one of the country’s leading third party accreditation schemes, a “market-leading provider of technology-enabled compliance risk management, certification and verification services”. It recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors like ourselves.

In fact, it’s of such importance that it’s used by thousands of organisations in the UK including small businesses as well as much larger FTSE 100 businesses. The Alcumus Group supports more than 30,000 clients in the UK and internationally with their Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) strategies.

When we applied for Safe Contractor accreditation, we were looking to increase our existing health and safety portfolio. We have already achieved many other awards and accreditations, including the ARCA Site Audit Gold Award, CHAS and Construction Line but there is always room to continually improve our operations.

In order to achieve the Safe Contractor accreditation, we had to demonstrate a wide range of health and safety requirements including providing examples of Plans of Work and Risk Assessments for both licensed and non-licensed projects which had been completed within the last 12 months. Evidence was required of our asbestos training along with the wide range of general health and safety training we undertake and our equipment was shown to be compliant and in date.

The Safe Contractor accreditation will certainly help us gain further contracts in future, as we are able to demonstrate to an even greater extent our strong commitment to health and safety.

Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus Safe Contractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”

Darren Skinner, Director of Midlands Asbestos Solutions Ltd said: “I am really pleased that we are continuing to expand our health and safety portfolio. This can only be of benefit to the company as it displays our commitment to health and safety to all our clients.

More than many other materials, working with asbestos can prove to be a risk to human health, so it’s essential that the right people are involved from beginning to end.  With yet another accreditation to our name, you can rest assured that when you are working with Midlands Asbestos Solutions on a project, you will not have to worry about the risks to safety.
